US M1878 Canteen with a tan canvas cover with a very clear U. S. stencil on the front, in very good condition with the original issue sling. The canteen is of the early Indian Wars period, as it was made from a converted Civil War canteen. The back of the cover also has a faint Quartermasters stamp. The canteen is complete with its original cork stopper secured to the neck of the canteen by a brass ring and chain.
