Article 1 of the decree provided that the recipient’s helmet bore the name and grade followed by the words “Soldier of the Great War 1914-1918”

and an impressive gold bullion fringe on the bottom

It consists of the King’s crown above a stag's head

It then took part in the Siege of Yorktown in 1781
