This is a very nice British Royal Navy bronze swivel cannon barrel, made circa 1780. The 23 1 2 inch long barrel features a 1 3 8" smooth bore and measures 5 1 2" across trunnions. There are multiple collars cast into the design along the length to keep it from splitting. These cannons were usually used on iron swivel mounts, often mounted to a ship's rail. Really nice and clearly very old and surprisingly heavy. These
