First designed in 1916 having witnessed the carnage in WW1

with only minor age-related oxidation

The left grip retains a very good and clear military inspector’s cartouche

so it looks like it was made to hang vertically from that end

This is a great example of a Model 1848 Belgian Cuirassier Helmet, and the first we have had the pleasure of offering in several years. This is the helmet worn by the Belgian Cuirassiers, or Heavy Cavalry from the 1840s up into the 1880s. The helmet is constructed of steel and brass with fine horse hair tail from the rear. It comes complete with it's original Helmet plate and original horsehair tufted plume. The
