Now this is a rare opportunity! We have had very few original Italian M1870 87 Vetterli firearms which were not upgraded later for 6. 5mm Carcano. Most previous examples were rifles, but this is a rare Cavalry Saddle Ring Carbine, only 40 1 2 inches in length. These were never issued in large numbers, and as they were not really "Front line" weapons, apparently this example escaped WWI Era conversion, though it was
