This is just lovely, a larger Scottish "Shoulder Brooch" from the Victorian era, used to secure the tartan to the shoulder. This example is cast metal, and looks to be silver or some silver colored alloy. It has lovely embossed Celtic designs on the front, with a CROWN X at the top. The rear is marked with the Scottish maker: R. & H. B. KIRKWOODEDINBURGH This is a known maker of these brooches during the late Victorian
