This is a genuine post Civil War, Indian Wars era leather cartridge box for use by the United States Navy, but this example does not have USN embossed on the outer flap as most do. The box may have been refinished and is not marked anywhere. The outer surfaces of the box exhibit wear from age and use. The outer flap has heavy crazing throughout.
