This came out of an old home in Massachusetts and the painting itself measures 17" X 25", while the wood frame measures 27" X 34 1 2". There is a brass plaques attached to the frame stating: U. S. FRIGATE ESSEX 32 GUNS LAUNCHED 1790 BY JOSEPH HOWARD 1789 1857 The painting itself has not been out of the frame during its short time with us and appears unsigned. There is slight water damage to the matte on the left hand side
