It is quite nice

but due to the breech cone arrangement this modification could not be practically applied to the M/57 carriage

Tying this set together is a very nice 1943 dated original US Army issue OD Green canvas 10-Pocket ammunition belt for use with both Springfield and Garand Rifles

Stirrup covers are both embossed "U. S", bass plate is marked "12 Inch Seat" and one strap is marked LADEW 1918 E. A. M. When the war began, practically all Army purchases of harness were made thorough the Jeffersonville, Indiana Quartermaster Depot. 1 Early in 1918, purchasing was moved to Chicago because most of the suppliers were near that city. Given the vast extent of the
