This is a very nice Federal 1839 Pattern Brass Belt Plate Buckle, made from the standard lead filled cast brass. This is the most outstanding example we have ever offered, with roughly 90% of the original bright reflective finish retained to the front. It also has early wartime pattern brass "Puppy Paw" style attachment studs on the reverse. The plate measures approximately 3 3 8 x 2 1 8. The condition is very good
