This is probably the most excellent condition example of the Mauser Model 1871 84 rifle that we have ever seen. Truly a Museum Quality Piece, worthy of any collection. It is covered with Imperial German inspection and acceptance markings, even on the wood stock. The serial number 9140 appears on the barrel, receiver, and bolt, while smaller components have 40 stamped. The receiver is dated 1888 and marked I. G. Mod.
