Leather adaptations of this silhouette are scarce and highly sought after pieces of vintage history. At the core of the Type I design are its unique pleated front and rear panels, providing the wearer with added freedom of movement. While the Type I pattern has its origins dating back to 1905, the original iterations lacked the front flap pocket we now associate with
